Jennifer has worked in the nonprofit sector for nearly 20 years. For eight years, she worked for the Medina Foundation as a program officer and eventually as the acting executive director. Prior to that, Jennifer worked as a foundation administrator for The Laurel Foundation. Before making the switch to foundations, Jennifer spent two years as the managing director for Book-It Repertory Theatre and five years at Treehouse, an organization that helps children in the King County foster care system. As Treehouse’s second employee, she helped develop the first programs and eventually led the fundraising activities as a development associate.>
Jennifer has designed programs, created and managed grants processes, provided technical assistance to countless nonprofits, and worked extensively with boards. She is an experienced leader with keen insight into both the strategic goals and accountability required by foundations as well as the needs and challenges of nonprofit organizations. With a deep knowledge of the nonprofit sector, Jennifer has participated in numerous funder collaboratives that have strengthened the impact of local and regional grantmaking. She provides thoughtful, strategic guidance to help funders ensure that their giving is both effective and fulfilling by helping at any point: from establishing priorities and guidelines to creating review processes to determining the best ways to make funding decisions that align with their vision and the impact they want to have in the community.
Jennifer has volunteered with the Washington Women’s Foundation, Thrive by Five, the Northwest Children’s Fund, United Way of King County, and the Crisis Clinic. Jennifer holds a bachelor degree in English from the University of Puget Sound, and currently sits on the board of Express Advantage, the charitable arm of Express Credit Union, King County’s first low-income credit union.
